Privacy Policy

This page describes what information APIHub Kenya collects when you use apihub.ke, what we do with it, and how you can reach us if you have concerns.

1. What we collect

Account info: If you sign up, we store your email and display name. If you log in through GitHub, we get your email and profile name from GitHub. That's it.

Browsing activity: We track page views, which API listings you look at, and search queries. This helps us improve recommendations. If you're not logged in, this data is tied to an anonymous session ID, not to you personally.

2. What we do with it

We use your data to run your account, show you relevant API suggestions, power the reviews and forums, and send you necessary emails like verification links or provider claim updates. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.

3. Cookies

We set one login cookie (httpOnly, so JavaScript can't read it) and one anonymous session ID to avoid counting the same page view twice. That's it. No third party tracking cookies, no analytics pixels.

4. Third parties

GitHub: If you sign in with GitHub, the login flow goes through GitHub's servers. We only receive your email and name.

5. How long we keep it

Your account data stays as long as your account exists. Delete your account and we delete your personal info. Browsing data is aggregated and doesn't identify you. Reviews and forum posts you've written may stay up in anonymous form after account deletion.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to show you what data we have on you, fix anything that's wrong, or delete it entirely. Email privacy@apihub.ke and we'll get back to you within 30 days.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All traffic runs over HTTPS. Login cookies are httpOnly. Sensitive credentials stored on our end are encrypted at rest. We take reasonable steps to keep your data safe, but no system is bulletproof.

8. Updates

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, that counts as acceptance.
